Darrow Brook Fairies
How I met the Darbries:

I took things to the Darbies, but they usually frowned upon it. Well maybe not frowned, they just didn’t understand the gifts, and took what they wanted and left the things I thought they would like best. Like a small gun, some small tools a jackknife, and things I thought they could use for weapons, but they left all them alone mostly. I say mostly because the took all the toothpicks. You know, the round real sharp pointed ones. They took them a handful at a time making trip after trip. I brought them more the next trip and they took more and more but not all of them so I knew they had enough for what ever they were doing with them. I brought them paper towels, but nothing, they didn’t take any paper towels, but toilet paper was taken by the yard. They liked toilet paper. What was wrong with the paper towels? Your guess is as good as mine. I even asked on a couple occasions, and they don’t really have an answer. They just don’t look good to them, I guess.

The Darbies on the other hand always looked good. It’s like dirt or mud doesn’t stick to them. They keep impeccably clean. They have no smell, at all, as far as I could tell at least. A good hiding adaptation? Maybe? Probably! Their hair is white and well groomed. They clean each other often, and bathe a lot. They are sure easy on the eye as they don’t ever have pimples or imperfections, anywhere on their bodies. They don’t have any birth marks, a few if any moles, and no scars. I was told that if an arm was bitten off, it would grow back. I never saw that happen, so I don’t know for sure. Like I said, I don’t even know if Darbies can die. Old age sure isn’t a problem. They’ve lived here in Darrow Brook for going on 250 years? Yes, these Darbies, no more no less. These are the ones that came here. All are accounted for, no one was ever missing, these Darbies are 250 years old plus however old they were when they came to America. The youngest has to be at least three hundred years old, and the oldest five hundred, seven hundred, or maybe more. They don’t know and they don’t keep track and anything about their age is kept quiet amongst them. You could tell better by the length of their hair, but they’ve also been known to cut some off to look younger. All I know for sure is they are all adults, there isn’t any males, and they all look like they are in their prime.

Someone might come to think that I know a lot about fairies. Well, I don’t. I don’t know much about fairies at all. I know about Darbies. Much of what I’ve read about fairies, seems like hogwash. So wide of a net on the behavior of fairies has been cast, that my direct knowledge of fairies, throws most of it out the window. Fairies eat bugs, they don’t look like bugs. If it looks like a bug, it might be something, but Darbies would eat it, not think it was a fellow fairy. I’ve never heard of anyone knowing fairies like I do, but I’m sure these people exist and have existed. Come forward and tell your story.
