Darbies like to play. They play a lot. They have fun with each other, they race, they try to outdo each other. Darbies seem to live to play. They like to show off too. At least to me. They all have come to me at some time or other and quietly say, “Darbie pretty?” I would always say that they were very pretty, almost the prettiest of them all. They would always giggle, curtsey and say “Taplei” or “toplet.” I think that means “thanks” and “good bye”. They are always making themselves look pretty. Playing and grooming takes up most of their free time, hunting bugs and sewing takes up the rest. I guess it’s almost more like knitting, but I’ve only watched them make clothes from a distance. I have however, saw all the clothes they make up close! They are exquisite. The Darbies loved to come show off their new clothes. You couldn’t tell any Darbies apart by their clothes as they changed and switched faster than anyone could keep up with. Mostly, though, they like to be naked. Clothes were a decoration. Clothes were only needed if they went out to find supplies. String thread or razor blades were the best items to find, but anything lacy or satin was gotten too. The turned these items into beautiful gowns, dresses and shawls. They were mostly transparent or see through and as light as can be. Take the lace they make for example, Darbies make a lot of lace. It’s hard to figure out if a Darbie is showing off the lace or using the lace to show off their face and body. The lace is extremely beautiful, but it is almost made haphazardly. There isn’t any pattern that I can observe. If you look closely, there is not any uniformity. It’s looks very random. But when you see it as a whole, it appears perfect. The lace seems to always be just a decoration. I’ve never seen them make a lace purse or anything functional out of the lace.  Anything they carried that was slightly heavy was hooked around their neck or attached to a necklace, and that is not to say that their necklaces weren’t exquisite, because they were!
