Darrow Brook Fairies

I went home. I wasn’t happy about it, but I went home. As soon as I got a chance, a few days later, I went back out to look for Daisy’s tag. The bird-girl was haunting me too, but I tried to brush that off and told myself that it was just the tag that I wanted.
How I met the Darbries:

Part One
I spent a lot of time looking for the Darrow Brook Fairies. I remember the first time I saw one. I was deep in the woods sitting, leaning against a big hemlock tree, on the bank of the swamp. I was sad and needed alone time after my dog died. I was comfortable in the woods and I guess I fell asleep. I think I woke up or maybe just opened my eyes, when I saw a bird flying away. Except it looked like person too. I really couldn’t be sure what I saw. I just kept thinking, what the heck did I just see. I kept wanting to think that I saw a naked girl, but all I really saw was a flash of a bird-girl.

Daisy
I had Daisy’s collar in my hand as I had just finished burying her earlier that day. Her collar had fallen out of my grasp, and was lying beside me on the ground. I picked it up and stood there wishing I could trudge through the swamp and get a better look at my bird-girl, but that would be near impossible. I had tried to get through there many times when hunting deer and failed every time. I remember that I had new hiking boots on, and didn’t want to get them full of mud so I headed off for home. About halfway home I noticed that Daisy’s name tag was missing from the collar. I really wanted to go back to look for it. I didn’t want to lose it. It had a tremendous amount of sentimental value, from when I first got her. But it was getting late and it would be too dark to find it anyway, not to mention trying to maneuver around that swamp in the dark would be suicidal. Well, maybe not suicide but dangerous for sure, or mostly just scary as hell.
